Iris Hanley is known as a social butterfly with an affinity with water. The 15-year-old from Auckland's Greenlane will be competing at the New Zealand Special Olympics National Summer Games on Thursday. Hanley attends Baradene College of the Sacred Heart in Remuera and, outside of swimming, she enjoys singing in a choir and kapa haka.

Invercargill teen surprises himself on national speedway stage
16-year-old Finn Reed finished third in the New Zealand Solo Speedway Championships at the Oreti Park Speedway on Saturday. The Verdon College Year 11 pupil admitted he surprised even himself with his performance in the senior ranks against some seasoned campaigners on the bike.

South Taranaki Blue Light Chairperson Sergeant Kayanna Holley was honoured to present the NZ Blue Light Short Film Award $1,000 school prize to these creative St. Joseph's School Hawera students. Judges said their winning submission showed a good ethical stance on social acceptance.
