"Abuse hotline extended" NZCity.co.nz 17 September 2002 [Full text] The Catholic Church's sex abuse hotline will be extended for a few more weeks. The Church was due to have wound up the 0800 number [0800 111 555], but, while the number of calls are petering out, some are still coming in. Church spokeswoman Lyndsay Freer says the phone line will be re-evaluated at the end of September. She says the hotline has received some inquiries and some complaints, which have been referred to the appropriate order within the Church. Ms Freer says she is reasonably confident that, once people are directed to the correct source, they are being helped.
