seems further away than ever. Resentments over Roman primacy still
block détente with the Orthodox; massive ecclesiological differences
still separate Catholics from most Evangelicals and Pentecostals; and
disputes over both sexual morality and female clergy have added new
complications to already frayed relations between Catholics and
