Legalising euthanasia or assisted suicide would be bad for New Zealand
(26 Sep 2013)

While the decision by Labour MP Maryan Street to withdraw her
Euthanasia Bill from the Members Ballot today is welcomed, we
understand that it arises from purely political motives – a wish to
avoid a controversial debate in an election year – rather than out of
concern for the dangerous social consequences of such a Bill ...

institutions like the Anglican and Catholic churches, however, events

Diplomats; atheists; Newark, N.J.; and the war on Christians
http://ncronline.org/blogs/all-things-catholic/diplomats-atheists-newark-nj-and-war-christians

A pope plays many roles, one being the premier ambassador for
Catholicism (and religion generally) on the global stage. In a sense,
it requires the art of diplomacy: reaching across divides, finding
ways to communicate with people who don't speak your language, and
emphasizing common ground rather than drawing lines in the sand.
Francis has shown himself to be awfully good at that part of the job,
which may help explain why he seems increasingly inclined to turn to
churchmen with a strong diplomatic background to fill his
administration's key slots...
