Easter message for Aotearoa: NZ church leaders
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/easter-message-for-aotearoa-nz-church-leaders/MDCY2POCQJLWXUBFPSM6I3X4GM/
We are a blessed country in so many ways. The world looks on in
envious disbelief at
our crowded music festivals, sports stadiums and spectator flotillas
on the azure Waitemata, as we enjoy the relative normality of a Kiwi
summer. But there is a lot we share in common with our socially
distanced global neighbours ...

Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry: Religious leaders offer apologies
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/on-the-inside/439517/abuse-in-care-royal-commission-of-inquiry-religious-leaders-offer-apologies
Analysis - Sorry seemed to be a rather easy word at the Abuse in Care
Royal Commission of Inquiry over the past fortnight. The inquiry has
just wrapped up its latest round of public hearings, with various
faith-based redress processes in the spotlight as representatives from
three church groups fronted up to the commissioners. The latest round
also served as something of a curtain-raiser to what almost certainly
will be a centrepiece of the inquiry overall, an examination of abuse
in state care, which starts in early May.

Support for new redress process
Otago Daily Times
https://pressreader-com.wcl.idm.oclc.org/article/281552293651258
Survivors of abuse and the network groups that support them all agree
on one thing: the urgent need for an independent statutory body to
oversee the redress process for victims.

Survivors of abuse in faith-based institutions call for
recommendations to be passed onto Govt immediately
https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/survivors-abuse-in-faith-based-institutions-call-recommendations-passed-onto-govt-immediately
The Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry has heard two weeks of
evidence on the processes for resolving abuse claims from the
Salvation Army, the Anglican and the Catholic Church. It follows
earlier evidence from survivors themselves. Advocates want to see an
independent body established, to investigate and oversee the redress
for abuse claims.

Papal Preacher says divisions have 'wounded' Catholic Church

After reflecting on the biblical meaning of fraternity during the
Vatican's Passion of the Lord, the papal preacher on Good Friday
lamented the disunity existing among Catholics. "Fraternity among
Catholics is wounded," said Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa. "Divisions
between Churches have torn Christ's tunic to shreds, and worse still,
each shredded strip has been cut up into even smaller snippets ...
