The 0800 number (0800 111 515) was set up three months ago, to handle allegations of sex abuse by senior church figures. Church spokeswoman Lyndsay Freer says it was due to have closed this week, but calls keep trickling in. Ms Freer says the helpline is a referral service, set up to direct people to one of six catholic diocese. She says not all of the calls are complaints, with some just enquiries or people just wanting to talk. The helpline will continue until the middle of this month, when it will be evaluated again.
