Wellington cathedral to receive $8.5 million for restoration and strengthening
A Wellington cathedral is to receive $8.5 million in Government funding from the "shovel ready" infrastructure fund. The Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral in Hill St, Thorndon, has been closed since 2018, and the money will go towards restoring and earthquake strengthening the building.

Radio personality Michael Kooge, who died of cancer, farewelled in Whangarei
Radio personality Michael Kooge has been remembered as an "incredible" brother and son at his funeral in Whangarei. In a service held at St Francis Xavier Catholic Parish, sisters Michele and Megan remembered Kooge as an "incredible" and "talented" brother.

Father Dan Cummings will be remembered first and foremost as a much loved and respected parish priest who always put other people first. He took his religious vows seriously, was a man of strong principles and stuck to them all his life. He was also a gifted horseman, a national rodeo champion and a highly successful breeder, trainer and handler of harness racehorses.

That Akash died on Sunday in Sydney. That the ever-smiling, well-mannered young man- he was only 27- is gone, is excruciating. And that he died within the same week of his father's third anniversary (Wenceslaus Anthony passed away in Chennai on July 23, 2017 following a sudden illness) is even more tragic.
