Abuse survivor reps travelling to Rome
Two men with Dunedin links are winging their way to Rome to join the fight for "zero tolerance'' of sexual abuse and cover-ups within the Catholic Church.

Survivor denied entry to Vatican
A Dunedin survivor of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church has been turned away from the gates to the Vatican by its Swiss Guard. Darryl Smith flew to Rome this week to participate in survivor meetings timed to coincide with a gathering of the leaders of bishops' conferences from around the world.

His warm-hearted, gracious, intelligent nature were just some of the many qualities that drew people of all walks of life to Daniel Anthony O'Leary. Known simply as Dan by family and friend alike, the affable retired Whanganui farmer passed away on  February 15 in Whanganui Hospital.

Quake rating forces church to close
Te Puke Times
St Patrick's Catholic Church in Te Puke has had to close its doors. An initial earthquake assessment has seen the building rated category E, the worst possible ranking. However, worshippers will still be able to attend Mass, with Anglican vicar Rev Ruth Dewdney stepping in to offer St John the Baptist Church in Jocelyn St as a venue.
