Each year the Catholic Bishops of New Zealand set aside a week in September for Social Justice Week, inviting us to reflect and take action on a current social justice issue.

For Social Justice Week 2022, Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand has produced resources on the theme: "Say not to racism. We are one in Christ", based around the 'See-Judge-Act' method developed by Cardinal Joseph Cardijn. They are available to download ...

Teacher Ray Gannaway who inspired Th'Dudes, Split Enz accused of child sex abuse
A teacher credited with helping nurture the musical talents of Neil Finn, Mike Chunn and Th' Dudes has been accused of being a serial paedophile, who would abuse teenage boys during tramping trips in the Tararua Ranges. Ray Gannaway, a Catholic Marist Brother who was known as 'Brother Ivan' during his teaching career in Auckland and Wellington was celebrated as a great musician and educator when he died in 2018.

Kihikihi's Church of St John the Baptist was sold in 1994 after a little over 20 years in use. It was the third church to serve the local Catholic congregation; the first in use by January 1875 and the second built in 1880 ...

Teen's trilogy shows he's a creative force
They say everybody has a book in them, but one Dunedin high school pupil has already proven he has more. Kavanagh College pupil Tom Davis (15) has published three books since 2019, a trilogy which now resides in the school library.
