The trial of three peace activists accused of damaging one of the Waihopai spy base domes will be held in Wellington rather than Blenheim. On April 30 last year, Auckland Dominican friar and Catholic priest Peter Murnane, Hokianga farmer Sam Land and Otaki organic gardener Adrian Leason were charged with causing intentional damage and entering a building with intent to commit a crime.

Ninety-three-year-old Father Gordon Kerins is packing up his golf clubs and is on the move. The retired priest will leave his home in Waitara at the end of next month when Taranaki's last Marist community shuts its doors and the remaining three members leave.

Partisan reactions on both the Catholic left and right already seem clear, which might be referred to as the "Khrushchev letter" and the "Blue Meanies" strategies respectively.
