Catholic bishops lift Covid-19 restrictions, urge all to return to Mass
New Zealand's Catholic bishops have lifted all remaining pandemic restrictions on attending Mass and urged all the faithful to return to Sunday Mass. This follows the Government removing most Covid-19 requirements along with the "traffic light" system this week ...

Queen's Birthday Honours 2022: Jenny Gordon humbled by Queen's Birthday accolade
"Receiving this honour has been both overwhelming and very humbling for me as I have played just a small part in the development and success of Catholic education." Letter to Pope claims church mishandling NZ redress process

A New Zealand group representing survivors of child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church has called on Pope Francis to intervene in the redress process, claiming that church authorities were mishandling it and retraumatising victims.

This thirty-minute radio documentary features St Joseph's Maori Girls College in the Hawkes Bay which is the subject of a comprehensive new book by Malcolm Mulholland. But no story about St Joseph's can be told without mentioning its current principal, Dame Georgina Kingi. She was a student at St Joseph's in the early 1960s and first became principal in the late 1980s. She upholds a tradition dating back to 1867 when the school was founded by French Catholic nuns. Dame Whina Cooper was a student and more recently the likes of Dame Hinewehi Mohi and Moana Maniapoto. Students challenged to learn world's longest place name during Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori
Students at a Timaru secondary school are tackling a long pronunciation challenge as they celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori - Te Reo Maori Language Week. "We will be working on our pronunciation by getting students to attempt to say the world's longest place name," Roncalli College teacher, Kerryn Olsen, said about the name of a hill in Hawke's Bay.

Palmerston North school starts new chapter with 'warm and wonderful' library
A Palmerston North school has confirmed its commitment to improving the literacy of its pupils with the opening of a new library building. St James' School held a blessing to open its refurbished library on Monday. The old library and a classroom were demolished in 2019 and then work started on the new build.

Ogonowska Education Charitable Trust announces new grants
The Trustees of the Ogonowska Education Charitable Trust, (Jenny Gordon MNZM, Halina Ogonowska-Coates and Gordon Noble-Campbell) are pleased to announce the awarding of three grants to primary school students in the Wellington Archdiocese. The grants made by the Trust will meet the Archdiocese Attendance Dues for each of the three grant recipients in 2023.
