Because the road was closed by multiple slips, 33 French folk retracing the
steps of Bishop Pompallier and Suzanne Aubert reached Jerusalem via jetboats
on the Whanganui River on Wednesday.

Thirty pilgrims found their way to Kaikohe last Friday following in the
footsteps of Bishop Jean Baptiste Pompallier. It is here in New Zealand that
Pompallier is better known than in his native France.

Catholic bishops to appeal BSA decision (media release - full text)
New Zealand’s Catholic bishops have decided to appeal to the High Court the
recent decision of the Broadcasting Standards Authority regarding the South
Park “Bloody Mary episode. Last week, the Authority released its decision
not to uphold the bishops’ complaint, as well as the other 34 complaints
they had received about “Bloody Mary. This was the largest number of
complaints received by the BSA about a single programme since it was created
in 1989. Some donations towards the legal costs of this appeal have already
been pledged.
