Charles Drennan had never set foot in Palmerston North before taking up the job as the Catholic Church's head there. The rolling plains of Manawatu¯ would not have been too unfamiliar to him, though, being born and raised in Christchurch before taking a job in Rome. Born in 1960, the son of an Anglican-catholic pairing, Drennan went to school at Christ's College and attained a masters with first class honours from the University of Canterbury...
