Catholic Maori celebrate Easter in Tauranga (photo)
More than 2000 Catholic Maori gathered at Aquinas College this weekend to celebrate their faith over Easter. The annual Hui Aranga (Easter gathering) was held at Aquinas College with participants from 12 different clubs coming from across the North Island from as far as the Hokianga and Wellington.

Yesterday, among whanau and friends - at a gathering of good card-carrying Catholics, we witnessed our moko being baptised, and I could not help wandering throughout the service what kind of world he was being baptised into.

Rotorua schools are thrilled with their NCEA results, with one principal whose school has topped the country for their decile saying the results prove you don't need to go to big cities to get top marks.

NCEA pass rates for Bay of Plenty schools last year were mixed, but many principals say they are not a good measure of teaching, learning or achievement.

** Bishop condemns disruption of Good Friday services in India
Christians in India have denounced the interruption of Good Friday services by government officials in the parish of Sogandi in the Diocese of Chingleput in Tamil Nadu state. Police and revenue officials had surrounded the area before the liturgy of the Lord's Passion began, and then intruded on the ceremony during the veneration of the cross and distribution of communion.
