The first recipient in the Wellington Archdiocese of a prestigious award from the Catholic Church says she is "quite shocked but pleased" her efforts have been acknowledged. Sinead Ford, 14, said she had been nominated for the Tu Kahikatea Awards some months ago by the parish council of the Sacred Heart Church but had no idea about it until she was told she was to be awarded.

The most powerful recent instance of that temptation has been Catholic reaction to the 2008 "Religious Landscape Survey" from the Pew Forum, which documented a remarkable fluidity in religious affiliation in America -- almost half of American adults have either switched religions or dropped their ties to religion altogether...
