The Memorial Park project in Buckle St is good news for a dilapidated
Wellington heritage building. The former Home of Compassion Creche is
empty, boarded up and full of history. The building will get a new
lease of life and a new location in the park, complete with a picket
fence and garden reminiscent of the original.

South Korea has risen from the destruction of war to having one of the
largest economies in the world. Its capital, Seoul, has undergone a
rapid transformation, but to make way for tall buildings, many people
have been displaced. Many ended up on the streets. Otago Daily Times
reporter Sarah Marquet met two former New Zealand Catholic priests who
have been making a difference for those people in and around Seoul.

The New Zealander who heads Bethlehem University in the Occupied
Palestinian Territories, is speaking in Wellington tomorrow about
providing education where curfews, travel restrictions and military
checkpoints are all daily challenges faced by students and staff. Dr
Peter Bray, a De La Salle brother from Auckland, has been
Vice-Chancellor of Bethlehem University - the oldest university in the
West Bank, since 2009.

Br Brian Davis's golden halo does not reflect his sainthood. It has
come from the gold medals he has won at Masters Games.
Davis (73), a Brisbane-based Catholic teaching brother, has won 33
swimming gold medals at Masters Games over the past five months.

Hundreds of children took part in the Weet-Bix Kids Tryathlon in
Hamilton yesterday, but the achievement was extra special for one
young swimmer. Sophie Ridgway, 9, couldn't float in water let alone
swim the length of a pool 18 months ago. The St Peter Chanel Catholic
School (Te Rapa) pupil has cerebral palsy, which affects muscle
development and limits movement in her legs.
