The country's Catholics are being urged to read the working document that will guide the Synod meeting in Rome in October and help to set the future direction of the Church.

** Here's our first video back from the 126 people from all over Aotearoa-NZ travelling in Europe on pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2023 Lisbon, where they will arrive on 31 July, accompanied by Bishop Michael Gielen

** Catholic Discovery discusses Mary Magdalene on today, her Feast Day.

** Tomorrow is the Feast of St Mary of Magdala. Mary held one of the most important roles among the disciples — she is always named first when the women disciples are listed, and she was the first to see the resurrected Jesus

** The NZ Catholic Bishops Conference-Te Huinga o nga Pihopa Katorika o Aotearoa is seeking a Kaihapai Maori to help shape the future of the bishops' national agencies.

** All Catholics are being urged to read the working document that will guide the Synod meeting in Rome in October and help to set the future direction of the Church.

This coming Sunday, 23 July, is the third World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and Elderly. The Church observes this Day, close to the feast of Jesus' grandparents, Saints Joachim and Anne.

Episode 187 — Laity, Religious, Bishop, Cardinal, Seminarian (July 22, 2023)

Some significant developments in the Synod on Synodality dominate this month's episode, with the release of the Synod working document and the announcement of the Synod participants — including dozens of lay people — offering much to ponder. There has also been movement at the episcopal station in New Zealand, with a new bishop named, and on the global stage, Pope Francis has named 21 new cardinals. Maybe a current seminarian, who captured a bit of fame at World Youth Day in Rio, has a higher calling in his future? Join Anna, Cam, Don and James for a lively chat.
