Kilgallon, and his job is to help dig the Catholic Church out of a
deep, ugly hole...

What do the pope's words mean for the Communion debate?
http://www.cruxnow.com/church/2015/08/05/what-do-the-popes-words-mean-for-the-communion-debate/
Parsing the words of Pope Francis is a notoriously hazardous
undertaking, as he tends sometimes to say things that seem almost
deliberately open to multiple interpretations — remember "Who am I to
judge?" — and then play his cards close to the vest in terms of what
policy implications, if any, may ensue. That's a caution worth
reiterating as his words at Wednesday's general audience on divorced
and remarried Catholics make the rounds...

THE 15TH STATION PODCAST
http://station15.co.nz/
July 16, 2015
Episode 94 — Liturgy, Laudato and Latin America
Pope Francis has been moving — literally — and shaking, as always,
with his trip to South America and the release of his much-anticipated
encyclical on the environment, Laudato Si', dominating Catholic
headlines across the globe. They dominate much of the discussion on
The 15th Station as well, but a couple of New Zealand stories also
feature on this month's show. After some discussion, the New Zealand
bishops have decided they won't be pushing for a new translation of
the new translation of the Mass. In a rural part of the South Island,
meanwhile, they're wondering if they'll have Mass at all. As for Katy
Perry, she's just trying to buy some Catholic land. All that and more,
with Don, James and Gavin.

Nun's tale captures the paradoxes of India's love affair with religion
http://www.cruxnow.com/faith/2015/07/23/nuns-tale-captures-the-paradoxes-of-indias-love-affair-with-religion/
Every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in St. Michael's Church in Mumbai, thousands
of people crowd the large urban shrine for a weekly prayer before an
image of the Virgin Mary under the title "Our Lady of Perpetual Help,"
which tradition holds is capable of working miracles for people in
need. Such a scene would represent impressive devotion under any
circumstances, but what makes St. Michael's story most remarkable is
that the vast majority of these pilgrims aren't Catholics, or even
Christians. They are faithful Hindus...
