LENT 2018

"Let us go together" - Ven. Suzanne Aubert

Each year the NZ Catholic Bishops' Lent Appeal is run by Caritas to support our work of charity and justice for the poorest and most vulnerable around the world, including in Aotearoa New Zealand.

In 2018 our Lenten theme is, 'Let us go together', which comes from Venerable Suzanne Aubert's 1885 book New and Complete Manual of Maori Conversation. We are personally called to go on a journey – with each other and with God. In the course of the journey we are changed and we change the world around us.

Resources and the Lenten Reflection Programmes are prepared each year for parishes, schools, small groups and the wider community and are available at http://www.caritas.org.nz/lent

STATION XV: Episode 124 — Criticism, Canada, Christchurch and Chile (February 16, 2018)

http://station15.co.nz/

As the euthanasia debate heats up in New Zealand, so has criticism of some of the advocacy, including material found in a Catholic cathedral. In Canada, people of faith have much to be critical about in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's edict about government funding for a summer jobs program. In Christchurch, a city still recovering from devastating earthquakes several years ago, a new church has offered a ray of sunshine, but it's not so positive for Pope Francis when one looks at his work to tackle child sexual abuse — highlighted again on his recent trip to Chile. As always, Anna, Don, James and Gavin offer something a bit lighter after an intense but important discussion about some of the big Catholic stories of the month.

Church joins quest to figure out what makes Millennials tick

In every corner of the world, politicians, companies and employers alike have been trying for some time now to understand what Millennials, meaning young people between the ages of 16 and 35, are all about. For the Vatican, this translates into the call for a Synod of Bishops on youth, which will be preceded by a weeklong conference in Rome March 19-24 involving more than 300 young representatives sent from bishops' conferences all over the world ...

THE FIFTEENTH STATION PODCAST

Episode 122 — Christchurch, Christ's prayer, Christianity and Christmas fun (December 18, 2017)

Wishing all our listeners and your loved ones a happy and holy Christmas.
