Website goes live for Catholic Church's Te Ara a Maria celebration (27 Jul 2021)
https://www.catholic.org.nz/news/media-releases/tearaamaria-celebration/
In January 1838 Bishop Pompallier, Aotearoa New Zealand's first
bishop, dedicated New Zealand to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven. On this
year's Solemnity of the Assumption, on the 15th of August, the New
Zealand Catholic community is going to renew that dedication following
the numerous requests the bishops received during the lockdown asking
for Mary's protection of Aotearoa New Zealand in such troubling
international times ...

NZCBC on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CatholicNZ/

** Our bishops will be joining together on Sunday 15 August -- the
Feast of the Assumption -- to renew the 1838 dedication of the country
to Mary. Check out the new Te Ara a Maria website

** Every parish will take part in the Sunday 15 August rededication of
Aotearoa NZ to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, but everyone is also
invited to the special Mass at St Mary of the Angels in Wellington,
whether you are in Wellington or beyond. Space will be limited
however!

When Philip Sherry read his last bulletin on TV3 in 1990, he was the
same formal, coolly detached broadcaster viewers had first seen on
what was then WNTV-1 – the fledgling channel that served the lower
North Island – in 1962. He was one of a generation of broadcasters
still fondly remembered from a time when television was such a novelty
that people gathered on footpaths outside home appliance businesses
that kept TV sets running in their shop windows ...

When Cameron O'Hearn set out two years ago to create a documentary on

making it a news event by restricting the Mass's celebration a month

If you want to understand why Pope Francis is willing to use the power
of his office to enforce discipline on the Latin Mass but not on

"weaponization" of the faith is at least part of it. ...
