God our Father, your Word, Jesus Christ, spoke peace to a sinful world and brought mankind the gift of reconciliation by the suffering and death he endured. Teach us, the people who bear his name, to follow the example he gave us: may our faith, hope, and charity turn hatred to love, conflict to peace, death to eternal life.  (Second Opening Prayer, Fourth Sunday of Lent (C) )

In a world watching in horror at what's unfolding in Ukraine, the panel opens the episode with a discussion of Pope Francis' attempts to broker peace in the region. In New Zealand, the priesthood looks set to get a boost from young Vietnamese students, while a priest in the US has resigned from his parish after revelations of invalid baptisms over many years. Elsewhere, new research has found that countries that pass euthanasia laws see related increases in other forms of suicide — a warning for jurisdictions passing such laws. After all that, we need a little classical music to calm the nerves. Can Pope Francis help?

Papal consecration of Russia, Ukraine has history of controversy behind it
https://cruxnow.com/cns/2022/03/papal-consecration-of-russia-ukraine-has-history-of-controversy-behind-it
While bishops in Ukraine and Russia are grateful Pope Francis will consecrate their nations to Mary, other Catholics are eagerly awaiting the text of the pope's prayer to see if he does it "correctly." At issue is whether he explicitly consecrates Russia — named out loud — to the Immaculate Heart of Mary when he does the consecration March 25 and whether all the bishops of the world do so at the same time ...

When the Russian forces began bombing Ukraine, an Italian lay woman named Donatella Rafanelli, was asleep in her Kyiv Focolare residence, one of the new movements in the Catholic Church. She and her fellow Focolarini, as members of the movement are known in Italian, were awakened by a phone call saying the bombs were 35 miles away and they had to find refuge. Station XV: Episode 171 – Data, Papa, Papa, Data, Pater

Anna, Don, James and Gavin conclude on a musical note, marking the death of Australian Mercy Sister Janet Mead, whose rock version of the Our Father was a hit in the 1970s.
