"Catholic Abuse Hotline Still Ringing" IRN 06/10/2002 [Full text] The Catholic Church will keep its sex abuse helpline running for another two weeks because of continued calls. The 0800 number (0800 111 515) was set up three months ago, to handle allegations of sex abuse by senior church figures. Church spokeswoman Lyndsay Freer says it was due to have closed this week, but calls keep trickling in. She says the line is still getting about two calls per week, compared with a dozen a week when it first opened. Ms Freer says the helpline is a referral service, set up to direct people to one of six catholic diocese. She says not all of the calls are complaints, with some just enquiries or people just wanting to talk. The helpline will continue until the middle of this month, when it will be evaluated again.

The Tudor Consort/Peter Walls. "Cantiones Sacrae Quinis Vocibus" http://www.smokecds.com/index.cfm?layout=showcd&id=29788 "Peter Philips stands with William Byrd as one of the great religious composers of the Counter Reformation. The music of these two English Catholics is unsurpassed in sophistication and interest. The motets on this recording are taken from the five-part "Cantiones Sacrae" which were published in 1612. Philips adopted a wide range of musical devices to illustrate these texts musically, from suave counterpoint to precise word or image painting and homophonic declamation.
