Planning had been on hold for several months after a previous attempt to establish a school last year on an existing site did not receive the necessary resource consents. Bishop Len Boyle says the new property on the corner of Aubrey Road and Ironwood Crescent is large enough to include a church and an associated residence. The Catholic Education Office plans to have the school up and running as soon as possible.

Hundreds farewell elderly victim (full text) NZ City 4 May 2004 More than 200-hundred people have packed into Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Inglewood for the funeral of Bernard Boylan. The 79-year-old was found dead in the back of a 1991 Subaru station wagon in Waitara last Tuesday. He died from head and neck injuries suffered in an assault. Eulogies at the service painted Mr Boylan as a quiet gentleman, whose passions were his family, attending Mass, his Irish heritage and playing the piano accordion. A 47-year-old woman faces multiple charges in relation to Mr Boylan's death. She returns to the New Plymouth District Court next week.

The newly renovated Web page of the Marian shrine offers this opportunity at: http://www.lourdes-france.com (in French; click the UK flag at upper right for the home page in English). "The new Lourdes Internet site makes available the spiritual richness of the shrine to those who cannot come physically to Lourdes," said Pierre Adias, the shrine's communications director. This year, an average of 393 intentions a day have arrived through the shrine's electronic mail. In 1999, there were six intentions a day. Last year, 10,500 daily accesses to the site were recorded.
