Workers are currently clearing fallen rubble from the back of the cathedral in preparation for demolition.

Pandemic fails to poop party
The pandemic was not about to cancel another event, not if Kavanagh College pupils had anything to do with it. The year 12 and 13 school formal, planned for last night, was cancelled last week because of Level 2 restrictions. So pupil Annabelle Ring took matters into her own hands. "Everyone was a bit gutted, having already got their dresses."

15-year-old Abbie Wood's plant business sprouting faster than the plants
New Plymouth teenager Abbie Wood's mini-garden business 'Grow Easy' is sprouting faster than her prized potted terranium plants. "It's grown enormously," the 15-year-old Sacred Heart College Year 11 student said of the four-year-old easy care indoor plant business, which is now located at The Collaboration store in central New Plymouth.

Churches to be sold
After many months of deliberation, the fate of five Wairarapa church buildings owned by the Catholic Church has been decided, with three set to be sold.

Euthanasia referendum: Kiwis of faith split on End of Life Choice Act
On October 17, New Zealanders will get to vote on a piece of legislation called the End of Life Choice Act, which would allow eligible terminally ill adults the option to request medication that would end their life, in a binding referendum. Of the nearly 40,000 submissions made on the End of Life Choice Bill, most were in opposition – some citing religious reasons.

St Dominic's Catholic College, a West Auckland high school, has closed after one of its students tested positive for coronavirus.

Health Minister Chris Hipkins says it has become apparent some close contacts of the Mt Roskill Evangelical Fellowship church sub-cluster were not previously disclosed, including a student that recently tested positive. A student at St Dominic's Catholic College in Auckland has tested positive for Covid-19, and has been linked to the sub-cluster.

While most suffer from stage fright, the stage is where Emily Kerr-Bell thrives. The 18-year-old Kavanagh College head girl has a passion for all things performance, and has sung, danced and acted her way to success.

Taylah Friend has always been into sports. The year 13 pupil at St Peter's College started playing hockey and touch rugby at the age of 5.

Garin student impresses with his country style
A Garin College student has wowed national judges with his unique entry into this year's Smokefreerockquest. Zac Griffith, 15, who placed in the top three for the regional competition, was placed highly commended in the national competition this year for his unique country music style and original songs.
