Forty years ago Taupo Interchurch Welfare Society began a combined
churches programme to establish an op-shop to grant funds to people in
Taupo who need assistance. The five Churches are Anglican, Baptist,
Catholic, Union ( Methodist- Presbyterian) and Church 109.

changing its stance on celibacy but said he would not marry as he was
happy being chaste. Holy Family Parish priest Father Brian Fennessy
said celibacy was part of the spirituality of the church and was not a
