SOCIAL JUSTICE WEEK - September 14-20, 2008

Social Justice Week falls on 14-20 September. This year the focus is on
poverty in the midst of our affluent society, a timely theme as the nation
gears up for an election. It has been said that the litmus test of a just
society is how it treats its poorest and most vulnerable members.

Social Justice Week 2008 challenges us to "look and look again". Resources
have been sent to parishes, schools and youth groups, and are freely
available to download from Caritas' Website. They include:

** Look and look again: Poverty in an affluent society - No 13 in the
Caritas Social Justice Series.

** Parish resource material - for liturgies, meetings, speakers

** Introduction to SJW2008 Youth Resource

** Youth Resource 2008

** School resources
