A Stuff investigation has revealed senior Catholic Church leaders were warned about Brother Michael Beaumont in the 1970s and again in the 1990s – but he was simply allowed to move elsewhere.

A seven year, $20 million rebuild and refurbishment of St Bede's College will reach its conclusion this week with the opening of the school's new chapel. Devastated by the 2011 earthquakes, the chapel was demolished. For seven years a temporary chapel was used, while funding was secured to enable a rebuild. The campus master plan was re-designed to place the chapel at the forefront of the school.
