Catholics are being called en-masse to attend Mass in Ross to save the
town's last remaining church from closure. Christchurch Catholic
Bishop Barry Jones will lead Mass in the 149-year-old St Patrick's
Church next month as part of a diocesan visit to Westland...

Catholic church parishes in South Canterbury have at last received
some good news on earthquake repairs. The Pleasant Point community
have voted to get a new church built to replace the earthquake-damaged
St Mary's Catholic Church.

The 100-year-old clock in the Pleasant Point St Mary's Catholic church
tower is being restored. Possibly the first repair work the clock has
seen since it's inception, the restorer said.

Choirs and music groups will be delighted that work has started on new
parish facilities and music centre at St Mary's Pro-Cathedral in
Manchester Street, Christchurch. The new parish complex includes
offices for use by the parish, an expanded space that will include the
former Catholic Shop, which was in Chancery Arcade, and facilities for
the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Choir, other music groups and
the wider community.

Otago and Southland primary health organisation WellSouth is
encouraging more men to get regular health checks, following its
successful Men's Health Week participation last month. One of
''several dozen'' men who answered the call during Men's Health Week

While the rest of Dunedin dropped in religious affiliation, Mosgiel
ranked rather highly in the last census. The 2013 census data found
Mosgiel had the largest number of Presbyterians (1011), the most

Dunedin city.

five.
