News & Notes - 25 September 2011

Dear readers,
The usual summary of this week's 'NZ Catholic' newspaper is delayed

yet. I will try again next month.

God bless,
Mike Leon

Demolition work on the rear of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament
has begun. The Catholic cathedral was badly damaged by the February 22
earthquake. Work on the rear of the building should take about eight

and the floor of the sanctuary. No foundations will be removed. The
dome was removed by August 20. The altar ''appears to have sustained
irreparable damage'', the cathedral newsletter says.
