Timaru's Sacred Heart Basilica strengthened and reopening
Timaru's Sacred Heart Basilica is reopening for its first service since closing for earthquake strengthening nearly two years ago. Holy Family Parish priest Father Chris Friel said he and the parishioners were looking forward to Sunday's mass, the first in the historic building since February 2019.

Dannevirke's St Joseph's School has a new enrolment who is fitting in well - even though his favourite subject appears to be eating. Patrick, affectionately known as Piggles, started this term in the Year 1 and 2 class with teacher Sarah Newell.

Person critically injured after stabbing in Christchurch
One person is critically injured and a Christchurch school is in lockdown after a stabbing. A staff member at St Bernadette's School on Hei Hei Rd confirmed the school was in lockdown but declined to comment further.

Sacred Heart's $5 million new block rebuild closes chapter on fire
One of Waikato's biggest school rebuilds has risen from the ashes. The new learning space at Hamilton's Sacred Heart Girls' College has replaced what used to be the school's staffroom and science labs, which were damaged by a fire in November 2017.

Fundraiser will be fun and games
Chanel College hosting event full of carnival games and stalls If you're looking for something different to fill in an evening, then Chanel College students may have the event for you.
The school will host a games evening this month, as a general fundraiser for things such as the end-of-year camp and school ball.
