A special Mass in Alexandra's Catholic Church of St John the Baptist yesterday marked a double celebration for the Alexandra parish. It was 60 years since the Catholic church building was blessed and opened, and 60 years since long-serving priest Fr Mervyn McGettigan was ordained in the same church.
