(Vatican Radio) On December 2nd, 55 years ago, Pope John XXIII had a
private audience with the Archbishop of Canterbury Geoffrey Fisher,
the first time since the Reformation that Anglican and Catholic
leaders had met with each other. The current director of the Anglican
Centre in Rome and representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury to
the Vatican is New Zealand Archbishop David Moxon. He talked to
Philippa Hitchen about their upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations
and about the significance of Archbishop Fisher's visit to the Vatican
in December 1960….

A gang of teens have been arrested after smashing their way into a
Hamilton church and stealing the wine.

Chad Rhode was on his way home to his wife and children when he was
killed in a crash. The 39 year old had travelled to the Bay of Plenty
from his home in Paraparaumu Beach at the weekend to check on the
family's rental home in Pyes Pa, Tauranga.

A Rotorua principal is "thrilled" after being appointed the project
leader of the country's first faith-based community of learning. John
Paul College principal Patrick Walsh was asked to lead the collective,
which is made up of nine Catholic schools across Rotorua, Tauranga,
Tokoroa, Opotiki and Putaruru.

debating the proper sources of teaching authority. One of the towering
issues in the Protestant Reformation, for instance, was whether the
Bible alone or also Church authority can claim to provide binding
truth about God's will. Pope Francis, certainly recognizes the
importance of both Scripture and tradition. Yet it's also clear that
at the personal level, he prizes yet another font of wisdom with an
almost equally spiritual fervor. In a word, Francis takes his cues
from the poor...
