Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry: Religious leaders offer apologies

Analysis - Sorry seemed to be a rather easy word at the Abuse in Care
Royal Commission of Inquiry over the past fortnight. The inquiry has
just wrapped up its latest round of public hearings, with various
faith-based redress processes in the spotlight as representatives from
three church groups fronted up to the commissioners. The latest round
also served as something of a curtain-raiser to what almost certainly
will be a centrepiece of the inquiry overall, an examination of abuse
in state care, which starts in early May.

Salvation Army, the Anglican and the Catholic Church. It follows
earlier evidence from survivors themselves. Advocates want to see an

'Synodality' and women's empowerment go together, leading sisters say
https://cruxnow.com/vatican/2021/03/synodality-and-womens-empowerment-go-together-leading-sisters-say/
Over the eight-plus years of the Francis papacy, perhaps no single
term has captured the essence of this maverick pope's vision better
than "synodality." A Vatican official, and a woman much-cited recently
as proof of Pope Francis's commitment to hearing the voices of women,
now says whatever the precise definition of "synodality," in practice
it implies an almost Copernican shift in perspective and operating
style.
