Episode 92 — May 16, 2015

Francis, Feminism and Francisco

Pope Francis is front and centre again in this month's episode of The
15th Station. He's a feminist. Or is he? He has an "Effect" named
after him, which is pretty impressive. In other news, the NZ bishops
are concerned about attempts to change euthanasia and assisted dying
conventions, lay Catholics are trying to oust an American Archbishop
and an Auckland Catholic man is none too pleased with a large statue
of a Hindu deity at a house across the street. Join James, Don and
Gavin for another bumper episode of The 15th Station.

Cardinal Tagle will be a force in Catholicism for a long time
http://www.cruxnow.com/church/2015/05/15/cardinal-tagle-force-catholic-charities/

The Irish betting firm Paddy Power has Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of
the Philippines as the favorite to be the next pope, giving him 11/2
odds. Already dubbed the "Asian Francis," Tagle got another boost this
week with his election to lead a global federation of Catholic
charities. Between today and whenever a conclave might occur, any
number of things can happen to change the landscape. That dose of
caution, however, rarely stops "next pope" rumors from being the
Church's favorite parlor game. So if we're going to go down that
route, there's a great deal to be said for Tagle, who would make a
strong runner if the key issue next time is continuity with Francis...
