Catholic Church apologises for comments on abuse
The Catholic Church in New Zealand has been forced to apologise for comments implying parents bore some responsibility for stopping clerical sexual abuse. The statements by Monsignor John Harrison, of the Catholic Diocese of Dunedin, and Auckland Bishop Patrick Dunn came in an Otago Daily Times article, published last week.

An ODT Insight investigation, as part of the ongoing "Marked by the Cross" series, has uncovered allegations of historic sexual abuse, dating back to the 1970s, levelled against two Christian Brothers.
Gaudi's Sagrada Familia Cathedral raised in push for Arrowtown's Olive Leaf building (illustration)
The drive to build a new, leaf-shaped church building in Central Otago has been likened to the push to compete the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona. The multipurpose Olive Leaf Centre building is described as a "gift" to the Catholic parish and wider community in Arrowtown.

STATION XV
Episode 130 — Abolition, Resignation, Sanctification, Vocation and CELEBRATION!!
There are many serious topics on this month's agenda, but the episode starts with a celebration of 11 years of The 15th Station. The reminiscing gives way to the important discussion of a change to the Church's official teaching on the death penalty and the resignations of two senior Catholic leaders. Despite the challenges the Church is facing in many places, Auckland Bishop Patrick Dunn has urged young people to strive for holiness, which is what an Irish priest is also hoping will be a fruit of Pope Francis' upcoming trip to the country this month.
