Going blind: A mother's anguish living with retinitis pigmentosa 
A New Zealand mother's eyes welled up with tears as she spoke about the possibility of not being able to see her children grow up, get married or having grandchildren. Karen Chong, 48, suffers from retinitis pigmentosa, often simply called RP, a rare hereditary retinal disease. She is legally blind, has very limited vision and could go totally blind any time.

New Hato Paora principal has desire to maintain school's legacy
New Hato Paora College principal Nathan Matthews wants to maintain the tradition and the legacy of the Manawatu school. Hato Paora is one of four Maori boarding schools left in New Zealand – there are three others in Hawke's Bay. The only other Maori Catholic boys boarding school was Auckland's Hato Petera College, which recently closed. 

'Working' on new name for Kavanagh 
The Catholic Bishop of Dunedin is still not ready to decide on a name change for Kavanagh College, but insists he is ''working quite hard'' on the issue.
