Father Paul Martin appointed new Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (photo)
A new Catholic Bishop of Christchurch has been appointed nearly two years after his predecessor's death. One of Father Paul Martin's key decisions will be to approve the restoration of the earthquake-damaged Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

They say you can't choose your family, but Sister Lucy Duffy did. A woman of great compassion and kindness, Lucy dedicated her long life to serving God's work and helping those less fortunate than herself. The stalwart of the Roman Catholic Sisters of Mercy convent died at on November 23. She was 100 years old.
